Description of the assignment

Purpose of the job

As a Data Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and maintaining the organization's data assets. You will be responsible for ensuring data quality, accuracy, security, and accessibility while supporting various departments and projects that rely on data-driven decision-making. Your expertise in data management will help drive operational efficiency and strategic initiatives within the organization.

 

Reports to

Direct report of Contract Delivery Manager.

 

Key Accountabilities

1. Data Collection and Acquisition:

  • Collaborate with various departments to identify data needs and sources.
  • Develop and implement data collection strategies to gather relevant and accurate information.
  • Ensure data is acquired ethically, adhering to relevant regulations and privacy standards.

2. Data Quality and Integrity:

  • Establish data quality standards and implement data validation processes.
  • Monitor and cleanse data to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify and resolve data discrepancies and anomalies.

3. Data Storage and Organization:

  • Design and maintain data storage structures that support efficient data retrieval.
  • Implement data categorization, tagging, and labelling for easy search and retrieval.
  • Ensure data is stored securely and is accessible only to authorized personnel.

4. Data Governance and Compliance:

  • Develop and enforce data governance policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and ensure compliance.
  • Support audits and assessments related to data management and security.

5. Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to provide clean and reliable data for analysis.
  • Assist in creating standardized reports and dashboards to support decision-making.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of requested data reports.

6. Data Lifecycle Management:

  • Develop strategies for data retention, archiving, and disposal in alignment with legal and business requirements.
  • Manage data backup and recovery procedures to ensure data availability in case of emergencies.

7. Data Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure data needs are met.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on data management best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement data-related technologies and tools.

8. Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data management practices.
  • Propose and implement process improvements to enhance data quality and efficiency.

 

Profile

Occupational Skills and Training

Duties and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Management, Business Analytics).
  • Proven experience in data management, database administration, or a related role.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and data privacy regulation's.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems and data manipulation tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Python).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and prioritize tasks effectively.
