Description of the assignment

Position – Principal Civil and Structural Engineer

 

Location – Remote / Hybrid working out of one of our offices in Risley, Warrington or Milton Park, Oxfordshire.

 

Travel – Required to visit site in Plymouth every 6-8 weeks

 

Arrangement – Contracted (Inside IR35) or Staff

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.

 

Supporting one of our key clients we are looking for Principal Civil and Structural Engineer to support the Dock readiness Projects of a nuclear licensed site. This will involve managing a small team, managing the designs of others, and reviewing the designs that are produced so that processes are properly, adequately, and efficiently implemented across the project.

Profile

Responsibilities –

 

Management of the multidisciplinary design elements of the structures, ensuring designer technical performance and making appropriate technical responses.

 

Provide Subject Matter Expert advice.

 

Provide Technical design guidance and review of the overall design packages

 

 Provide Technical design guidance and review integration of the designs with other design packages

 

Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget

 

Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and effectively contributing to the project’s technical planning process.

 

 Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with Babcock’s Business Management System and Technical Manual

 

Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied

 

Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the consultant team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.

 

 

 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills of a Principal Civil and Structural Engineer –

 

Experience of major new buildings, preferably multistorey buildings or multi-functionality (hospitals etc)

 

New or refurbishment dock structures.

 

Seismic structural design

 

Minimum of a bachelors degree in engineering.

 

 

Preferred Chartered engineer

 

All internal courses will be provided by the client.
