The Project Manager (SC&P), will support the planning, coordination and delivery of site-based activities required to enable the successful development of the SMR Project. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager – Site Environmental Consents, Permissions and Planning, the role will help manage the practical delivery of site operations linked to environmental consents, planning, permissions, site characterisation, surveys, early works and associated enabling activities.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support the SPM in developing and maintaining integrated delivery plans for site operations, environmental surveys, investigations, enabling works and consent-related activities.
  • Coordinate day-to-day site activity planning, ensuring work is sequenced effectively and aligned with project milestones, access requirements, consent conditions and stakeholder commitments.
  • Manage interfaces between contractors, consultants, technical teams, environmental specialists, planning advisers, land teams and wider project functions.
  • Support procurement, mobilisation and management of suppliers delivering site surveys, investigations, enabling works and associated professional services.
  • Monitor progress against agreed scope, schedule, budget and deliverables, identifying risks, issues and dependencies and escalating appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate project records, action trackers, risk registers, change records and reporting information to support effective governance and assurance.
  • Support the application of NEC contract processes, including early warnings, compensation events, programme updates and contractor performance reviews where applicable.
  • Ensure site operations are planned and delivered in line with CDM Regulations, health and safety requirements, environmental management arrangements and relevant project procedures.
  • Coordinate the practical management of site access, logistics, permits to work, welfare arrangements, security requirements and site readiness activities.
  • Support engagement with statutory bodies, local authorities, regulators, landowners, neighbouring stakeholders and community representatives as required.
  • Help ensure outputs from site characterisation, surveys and investigations are captured, reviewed and made available to inform planning, consenting, design and risk management activities.
  • Prepare clear progress updates, dashboards and briefing materials for internal governance, project meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Promote collaborative working across multidisciplinary teams  

Profile

Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:

  • Experience supporting or delivering site-based project activities within large-scale infrastructure, energy, construction, nuclear or other highly regulated environments.
  • Good understanding of project management controls, including planning, scheduling, risk management, change control, reporting and governance.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams to deliver defined scopes of work safely and effectively. 
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and practical health, safety and environmental management requirements for site-based works.
  • Experience supporting environmental surveys, site investigations, enabling works, site access planning or consent-related delivery activities would be advantageous. 
  • Awareness of planning, environmental consenting, permitting and statutory approval processes relevant to complex infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of NEC contract administration principles, with proven experience using CEMAR or an equivalent contract management system.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities, manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records. 
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work with technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Ability to identify risks and issues early, support practical mitigation actions and escalate matters clearly where required.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced project environment with evolving requirements, ambiguity and significant stakeholder interest.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety, environmental protection, professional integrity, collaboration and inclusive working

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, Construction Management,
  • Engineering, Environmental Management, Planning or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional project management qualification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2, PMI PMP or equivalent.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as APM, CIOB, ICE, IEMA, RTPI or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • NEC Accredited qualification is highly advantageous, with proven experience acting in a client-side Project Manager role with responsibility for NEC contract administration, including use of CEMAR or equivalent contract management software. · Relevant health and safety training or certification, such as IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS or equivalent, would be beneficial.
