Description of the assignment
Purpose of the job
The Projects, Engineering and Decommissioning (PE&D) business line undertakes civil, engineering design, decommissioning and manufacturing projects across both Warrington, Didcot and various nuclear sites across the UK. Planning roles within the Project Management Office (PMO) are part of the centralised project support functions and will be embedded within multiple project teams, where they will be expected to develop a deep understanding of the project to enable effective management of the project schedule, reporting and identification of project risks and change at all stages of the project lifecycle.
Reports to
The Role sits the PE&D Project Management Office, Reporting to the Planning Manager.
Key Accountabilities
The Project Planner will deliver Project planning functional support to Project Manager to ensure successful delivery of project to time, cost, and quality. The Project Planner will utilise the best practice methods and tools to ensure Plans are deliverable and risks are adequately accounted for within plans.
The Planner will identify and communicate risks and opportunities which present themselves through the project lifecycle.
Project Scheduling:
• Responsible for maintenance of Project Schedule.
• Creation of Work Breakdown Structures / Cost breakdown structures
• Monthly schedule progress updates.
• Working with the project team to develop the Project Schedule.
• Schedule Baseline Management.
• Schedule resource management & allocation.
• Change impact assessments.
• Ensuring schedules meet Nuvia quality requirements.
Risk Management:
• Identifying and communicating schedule risks and opportunities.
• Support to project risk reviews and reporting.
• Risk mitigation scenario planning.
Reporting:
• Support to generation of contract and performance metrics.
• Milestone & progress reporting.
• Project resource reporting.
• Schedule Earned value reporting.
• Schedule narrative reporting.
Customer Management:
• Internal stakeholder management including subcontract / suppliers.
• Customer stakeholder management, including support to contractual progress meetings.
Work scope is subject to change in order to support business needs.
Profile
Occupational Skills and Knowledge
· Relevant work experience in Planning & Project Controls Roles (5+ years)
· Working towards APM Full Membership
Duties and Requirements
· Candidate has demonstrable experience in aspects of Project Planning & Controls including:
o Primavera 6 / Microsoft Project or other planning tools
o Creation and progression of project schedules
o Attendance of project reviews
o Prioritisation of activities
o Critical path & Earned Value Analysis
· Knowledge and experience of
· Flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion as necessary
· PC literate in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel
· Articulate with good written communication
· Keen attention to detail
Desirable:
· Experience / knowledge of the Nuclear sector
· Experience of planning on engineering projects
· Commercial Awareness (NEC, FIDIC etc)
· Experience of highly regulated industry [WS1]
· Full UK driving licence
