Description of the assignment

Key responsibilities will include:

•                Carry out routine contamination and radiation survey and reporting the results

•                Clearance for transfer of radiological and non-radiological items

•                 Monitoring and assessment of airborne contamination levels

•                Calculation and control of dose uptake in the working environment

•                Control and use of radiation protection instrumentation

•                Monitoring compliance with regulations and ensure that safe working conditions are maintained in the workplace.

 

The successful candidate in addition to being physically fit will also have the following:

•                A responsible attitude with the ability to carry out accurate and reliable work

•                A good basic education

•                Experience in working with radioactivity; this would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

•                Full driving licence.

Candidates will be required to:

·        Achieve the appropriate NVQ qualification during the training period.

·        Pass a medical examination and

·        Obtain appropriate security clearance.
