Who are we looking for?
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Radiation Protection Engineer (RPE). Applications are welcome from candidates starting their career in radiation protection as well as those with experience. Nuvia operates a diverse and successful radiation protection business in the UK. Our customers range from large government departments using a range of scanning and detection equipment through to small industrial users with a few closed sources. The RPA team provide consultancy across the nuclear sector including generation, decommission and defence projects.
To be considered, you will have a degree in a science related subject and preferably a postgraduate qualification. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your career, working with a team of experienced radiation protection professionals within the Nuvia Health Physics Business.
The successful candidate will be assigned a mentor from within the RPA team and will work towards their gain RPA accreditation. In-house and external training to support accreditation will be provided.
What will you be responsible for?
The successful candidate will work in the Nuvia RPA team and be responsible for:
· Interpretation and review of data on all aspects of radiation protection.
· Compliance review and hazard assessment in conjunction with the RPA.
· Production of radiation risk assessments and radiation protection advice notes.
· Emergency response, incident assessment and investigation in conjunction with the RPA.
· Production and presentation of training courses in radiation protection.

Qualifications
Essential skills, experience and competence required
· Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a scientific discipline
· Excellent numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to interpret and analyse data effectively
· Enthusiastic and motivated to learn and develop a career in radiation protection
Desirable skills, experience and competence
· Ability to manage own workload and be able to prioritise effectively
· Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills and the ability to establish relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
· Postgraduate qualification

Please note that this position will require security vetting and a full driving licence is essential.
Following a period of training, the candidate will be expected to join our on-call response team (not relevant to all Nuvia locations).
The candidate should be prepared to undertake the necessary survival training for work on oil rigs / vessels. This training will include underwater survival.
